Nostalgia

I arrived home at 1am
And entered in to leave again
In the living room a rocking chair
And sitting was Doom who then whispered,
“That watch tells time on your wrist when you
Take it off, time won’t exist”
“I don’t need advice,” in a sweat I say,
“But in case I do I might just stay”
So I put up tabs asking how to forget
Something I already know, someone I’ve hardly met
This week I’ll go to bed on time
Or take my watch off and wait for the shine
Where the sky and water finally meet
Two halves make whole but may not be complete
It’s not hard to believe that Grief comes easy
When I sit her down she gives a speech
Saying, “you know my name but not my last,
You talk about futures without the past.
From your memory may you find relief
For you are Grace and I am Grief
Please, remember me when you move too fast
There are answers in you nobody asked.”
So I put up tabs asking how to last
Beyond my lifetime and beyond my past
Who’s to tell me in a world so vast?
Well, shame and growth can coexist
The first is hot water and the next is mist
There are answers in you that you’ll never say
And things only you knew and that’s okay
If you wake each day to unraveled time
And always walking to the line
Where the sky find ground and there I’ve found ya
Each minute fades into nostalgia
Yes, Change arrives in symmetry
And she only speaks in poetry
Saying, “follow the rain, and the path it’s delivered
It will go down the drain, not to the river;
Though there’s a place that it’s meant to be
It will follow the gutter and purpose will fleet
Though there’s a place that it’s meant to be
It will follow the gutter and purpose will fleet
So I put up tabs asking what I’m meant for
And who I serve and who to mentor
If you can’t see ahead, then Doom will knock
As Grief is only but a sign of loss
If you still turn away, if you still digress
Then expect delays in your happiness
There are answers in you that you’ll wish you could say
And nothing you could do and no one you could save
If you wake each day with a taste in your mouth
In the back of your throat and it’s strong like sauerkraut
Then I’d advise to get some water in ya
Each minute fades into nostalgia
The swings are open during recess
And I just wanna play after being serious
Lets cut you a break, here I’ll cut one for ya
Each minute fades into nostalgia
I’m almost home at 1am
My spine is gone and my spirit phased
Perhaps you could if you’re there
Please greet me kindly in the rocking chair

Market on Roosevelt
Zots hanging off my belt
Little Basset Hound
Check my new “hammy” downs
Cousins old “hammy” downs
Circa twenty-ten
Arthur plays at seven
Burb rides since two thousand
Roosevelt Market
Tootsies in my pocket
Henry, you old dog!
Spot me a dollar fifty
Why are you all laughing?
Circa twenty-ten
It’s Fetch With Ruff Ruffman
Sorry I hacked your Webkinz
But I’m not that sorry because you had like ten Webkinz and I only had one frog from the hospital when I had appendicitis and my mom wouldn’t let me have anymore
What I would feel to give this way again
What I would give to feel this way again

I could watch you run
The world goes “blah, blah, blah”
What’s good is good is good is good
I could watch you run
And I could watch you fall
I watch you stumble
I could watch you dissolve
In true neutral
Things are made of salt
In one sheet the rain falls
In one note all birds sing
And I could watch you run, legs and all
Yeah, I will watch you dissolve
Your legs are made of salt
Alice won’t get you out
Alice can’t make you leave

Oh, Libra
03:11
|
|||
Oh, Libra
Your flipping quarters again
Tight rope borders again
I rest and drive
By latitude 45
Oh, Pisces
You're wishing on pennies again
The road has plenty (my friend)
Bite marks on a morgan dollar
Held by water
I recall the 45th parallel
In a sideways walk
(I grew up there, I grew up there)
My, ugh, I grew up
Guts, spiraling junk, a battery in a copper wire
Glitter mixed with dust, mixed with dust
I, ugh, I grew up
Grimace and crossed eyes after the 45th line

Inside My Head
04:42
|
|||
Inside my head I decorate
With tapestry and china plates
Two lamps with bulbs of different shades
One for the night, one for the day
A studio with cupboard space
Six hundred squared inside my brain
Wooden floors in both hallways
One for the night, one for the day
Artwork I don’t understand
A clock that ticks without hands
They’re either covered or on display
One for the night, one for the day
A leather chair used and deployed
Only for the paranoid
On the walls two shadows sway
One for the night, one for the day
One for night, one for day
To the back porch a sliding door
Where time is made for the ignored
Thought not forgotten, I deviate
Between two skies, the night and day
One glass window facing North
To view all things that I adore
But half the pane is tinted gray
One for the night, one for the day
One for night, one for day
One for night, one for day
One glass window facing North
So I may view all I adore
No curtains to encourage light
I follow them, the day and night
